FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know about OPSECLOOKUP right now
What is OPSECLOOKUP?
OPSECLOOKUP is an internet security awareness and OSINT platform designed to help people better understand digital exposure, online risk, and the importance of safe internet practices. It combines 64 integrated endpoints with research workflows to support responsible security education, threat awareness, and informed decision-making online.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes. All 64 integrated endpoints are available without a paid tier on this site. Donations are optional and simply help cover hosting, upkeep, and future improvements.
What kind of data can I look up?
You can look up:
Gaming: FiveM servers, Roblox, Steam, Minecraft
Network: IP geolocation, Shodan data, BGP ASN, WHOIS
Use the Endpoint Picker to browse by category, or focus the dropdown and type to jump to an endpoint by name or path. Recent endpoints you have used are surfaced near the top to reduce scrolling. You can still enter a manual API path if you already know the endpoint. Once you select a preset, enter the required value and click "Run Lookup".
What do the response formats mean?
By default, responses are shown in a human-readable "summary" view that highlights key information. You can toggle to raw JSON format by clicking "View raw JSON" above the response area. The summary view includes color-coding for risk scores, clickable links, and formatted dates.
Is my search private?
Your queries are sent to the relevant upstream APIs, and those providers may log requests on their side. OPSECLOOKUP also stores saved lookups, dashboard history, and some preferences locally in your own browser for convenience. Clearing site data removes that local history. For sensitive investigations, review the source provider's privacy posture and consider your own OPSEC controls.
Why am I seeing "401 Unauthorized"?
This usually means the API key has expired or is invalid. Some APIs may require periodic key rotation. If you consistently see 401 errors, please join our Discord server for updates on API key status.
Can I use this for doxxing or harassment?
Absolutely not. This tool is provided strictly for educational purposes, security research, and legitimate threat intelligence. Using it for doxxing, stalking, harassment, or any illegal activity violates our Terms of Service and may result in legal consequences. See the Terms modal for full details.
How do I get help or report an issue?
Join the Discord server from the community panel and post in the support channel with the endpoint name, the error you saw, and what input type you were testing. You can also check the Updates section in the footer for recent changes before reporting a bug.
How can I support the project?
Use the Donate link in the footer if you want to help fund hosting, endpoint maintenance, and future improvements. Support is optional, but it directly helps keep the project moving.
What does OPSEC stand for?
OPSEC stands for Operations Security. It's a process used to protect sensitive information from being gathered by adversaries. In the context of OSINT, OPSEC awareness helps researchers understand what information is publicly available and how it might be used against individuals or organizations.

FAQ and privacy copy refreshed
The FAQ now reflects the current picker workflow, clarifies that saved history is stored locally in the browser, and points users to the new support and updates links.
Current note
Cross-clear usage tracking not enabled
Durable "most used" tracking across cleared browser data is not live yet. That feature would require backend storage and a stable per-user identity instead of browser-only local data.
